Saolta Radiation Oncology Centre Opening
We were delighted to attend the opening of the Saolta Radiation Oncology Centre at University Hospital Galway. The new centre was officially opened by Stephen Donnelly T.D., Minister for Health, and will provide Radiotherapy Services for a population of over 1 million people, stretching from Donegal to north County Clare and into the Midlands. This was a fantastic project to be involved with, and we are proud to have played our part in developing this much needed facility for the people of the west of Ireland.
The project comprised the construction of a new three-storey Radiation Oncology Centre of approximately 8,340m², containing six radiotherapy treatment bunkers with radiation shielding walls, 2 CT rooms, on-treatment support and ancillary physics, treatment planning, a deep plan atrium, administration facilities, external landscaping, and a new 38-space surface carpark.
