Enabling works followed by construction of a two-storey Research and Development facility at Carrigtwohill, Co. Cork.
Project Overview
Construction of a new facility extension to the existing IC1 Membrane Manufacturing Plant at Merck Millipore, Tullagreen, Carrigtwohill, Co Cork. The project, known as the “Membrane Pilot R&D Facility”, is comprised of approximately 2,000m² of floor space split over two levels.
The structure is comprised of a structural steel frame, including a composite metal deck at first floor level. The building façade comprises insulated metal cladding with removable panels and glazing. Internal fitout works comprised of stud partition walls, ceilings, flooring, installation, testing and commissioning as well as validation of mechanical and electrical systems and equipment.
We installed high-specification laboratories to a bespoke design, the lab furniture incorporated concealed medical gas, DI water, vacuum, power and data containment – all integrated into high level bench pedestals. The benches were all constructed from Trespa including Trespa worktops. Suspended services modules incorporated further medical gas outlets, data, power and fume extract pendants. The laboratories also incorporated fume cupboards, complete with automatic sash control (linked to the room environmental controls) and associated extract systems.
