University Hospital Galway – Radiation Oncology Centre

Date: February 10, 2023

We completed works on a new Radiation Oncology Centre in the grounds of University Hospital Galway last month. The project comprised of the construction of a three-storey Radiation Oncology Centre of approximately 8,340m², containing six radiotherapy treatment bunkers with radiation shielding walls, 2 CT rooms, on-treatment support and ancillary physics, treatment planning, a deep plan atrium, administration facilities, external landscaping, and a new 38-space surface carpark.

The new building is connected to the existing hospital via a single storey 40m enclosed link corridor. The hospital remained fully operational throughout the works, requiring ongoing liaison and coordination with hospital staff and management.
